Position Responsibilities
- Organize and plan weekly/monthly events for students with disabilities through our Building Connections program.
- Maintain records of individuals attending monthly/weekly events.
- Coordinate and organize weekly academic study halls.
- Develop and present academic workshop series to promote student academic skills.
- Serve as an exam proctor in our accommodated exam rooms.
- Support Beyond All Odds, a student organization for students with and without disabilities that promotes disability inclusion on campus.
- Provide one-on-one and/or group strategy instruction to students with disabilities on topics such as time management, organizational skills, exam preparation, test taking and/or notetaking skills.
- Represent office at local transition events for students with disabilities (may require schedule flexibility)
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in the area of Education, Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or closely related field.
- Master’s degree in Special Education or related field is preferred.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Experience with students in a higher education setting highly desirable.
- Knowledge of academic learning strategies such as time management, organization, and study preparation.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Demonstrated experience providing direct services (i.e., 1-1 academic coaching or social events) to individuals with disabilities in the postsecondary environment is preferred.
